During this 'Kintsugi' workshop you will learn how to repair a broken or damaged glass to re-use it - and experience how satisfying it can be to repair instead of replace. The cost is €45 for 2h - and we start workshops for beginners in groups of max 5/6 participants per workshop, to ensure a high quality of experience for all particilpants.
100% Karoo Agave
Leonista means “place of the lion” and is the first 100% Karoo agave spirit in South Africa made the traditional way. The production process follows an age-old recipe used in Mexico to make agave spirits like Mezcal. It requires smoke and fire, hence Leonista’s delicious smokey flavour, similar to that of a Mezcal.
Respecting the traditional Mezcal process inherited from the maestro distillers, our agave plants are processed in the authentic way, but with our own uniquely African touch. This African spirit is produced following an ancient Mexican recipe.
The Leonista founder and creator, Sarah Kennan, went to Mexico on a research tour and learnt the process from the maestro distillers there. Since it is not made in Mexico it cannot be called Mezcal or Tequila (by legal definition) but it is essentially a local Agave Spirit (or Mezcal by historical definition) made using sustainable, organic, South African, Karoo agave that has been growing there for hundreds of years, and has become naturalised to the region.

The Spicy Ginger Honey is made with Leonista Honey Reposado and Spicy Ginger Beer. This is really nice in the winter in front of the fireplace.
Leonista has taken the time to create expertly crafted cocktails that respect the ingredients & balance of our Agave Spirits. After the baking process we take the agave out, crush it to extract the juices, ferment it, distill it and then bottle it - in the case of our Blanco. For our Reposados, we age them for 3-6 months in American Oak Barrels; before our Honey Reposado is finally infused with Raw African Honey, for those who prefer to savour an even sweeter finish.
